WHY BRAZIL

CLIMATE

Brazil is an all-year round destination because of its tropical and subtropical climate. It boasts on average 2000 hours of sun per year and thanks to the vast size of the country whenever you visit, there will always be sunshine somewhere, even during the rainy season which lasts from October to March.

GEOGRAPHY

Brazil is the largest country in South America with 8 516 000 km² of land and it is the fifth largest nation in the world. It has 7,400km of the most paradisiac coastlines in the world along the Atlantic Ocean and borders with every South American country except Chile and Ecuador.

The Brazilian landscape is very varied. It is most well-known for its dense forests, but there are also dry grasslands (called pampas), rugged hills, pine forests, sprawling wetlands, immense plateaus (areas of level high ground).

ARCHITECTURE

The architecture of Brazil is influenced by Europe, especially Portugal. In the 18th century during the time of the Empire of Brazil, Brazil followed European trends and adopted Neoclassical and Baroque architecture. Then in the 20th century especially in Brasilia, Brazil experimented with Modernist architecture. During this time, Oscar Niemeyer, who became and remains one of the world's greatest modernists, began to present a style that was to become Brazil's very own style.
